A boost converter (step-up converter) is a power converter with an output dc voltage greater than its input dc voltage. It is a class of switching-mode power supply (SMPS) containing at least two semiconductor switches (a diode and a transistor) and at least one energy storage element. Filters made of inductor and capacitor combinations are often added to a converter’s output to improve performance.

LT3464 Micropower Boost Converter with Schottky and Output Disconnect in ThinSOT™
The LT®3464 is a micropower step-up DC/DC converter with integrated Schottky diode and output disconnect packaged in an 8-lead low profile (1mm) SOT-23. The small package size, high level of integration, and the use of tiny SMT components yield a solution size of less than 40mm². The LT3464 has a typical current limit of 115mA as well as fast switching speed to allow the use of a chip inductor and small ceramic capacitors. The internal PNP disconnects the output load from the input during shutdown, and also provides output short-circuit protection. An auxiliary reference input allows the user to override the internal 1.25V feedback reference with any lower value, allowing full control of the output voltage during operation. This device features a low 25µA quiescent current, which is further reduced to less than 0.5µA in shutdown. A current limited fixed off-time control scheme conserves operating current, resulting in high efficiency over a broad range of operating current. The rugged 36V switch and output disconnect circuitry allow outputs up to 34V to be easily generated in a simple boost topology.

Micropower VFM step-up DC/DC converter
The ST5R00 is an high efficiency VFM Step-up DC/DC converter for small, low input voltage or battery powered systems with ultra low quiescent supply current. The ST5Rxx accept a positive input voltage from start-up voltage to Vout and convert it to a higher output voltage in the 2.5 to 5V range.

LT3461/LT3461A 1.3MHz/3MHz Step-Up DC/DC Converters with Integrated Schottky in ThinSOT
The LT®3461/LT3461A are general purpose fixed frequency current mode step-up DC/DC converters. Both devices feature an integrated Schottky and a low VMCESAT switch allowing a small converter footprint and lower parts cost. The LT3461 switches at 1.3MHz while the LT3461A switches at 3MHz. These high switching frequencies enable the use of tiny, low cost and low height capacitors and inductors. The constant switching frequency results in predictable output noise that is easy to filter, and the inductor based topology ensures an input free from switching noise typically present with charge pump solutions. The high voltage switch in the LT3461/LT3461A is rated at 40V making the device ideal for boost converters up to 38V.

LT1613 1.4MHz, Single Cell DC/DC Converter in 5-Lead SOT-23
The LT®1613 is the industry’s first 5-lead SOT-23 current mode DC/DC converter. Intended for small, low power applications, it operates from an input voltage as low as 1.1V and switches at 1.4MHz, allowing the use of tiny, low cost capacitors and inductors 2mm or less in height. Its small size and high switching frequency enables the complete DC/DC converter function to take up less than 0.2 square inches of PC board area. Multiple output power supplies can now use a separate regulator for each output voltage, replacing cumbersome quasi-regulated approaches using a single regulator and a custom transformer.

LT3494/LT3494A Micropower Low Noise Boost Converters with Output Disconnect
The LT®3494/LT3494A are low noise boost converters with integrated power switch, Schottky diode and output disconnect circuitry. The parts use a novel control technique resulting in low output voltage ripple as well as high efficiency over a wide load current range. This technique guarantees that the switching frequency stays above the audio band for the entire load range. The parts feature a high performance NPN power switch with a 350mA and 180mA current limit for the LT3494A and LT3494 respectively.
